Phelps Dodge Thailand Ltd. (PDTL) was established in 1968 as a joint venture between an existing Thai firm and Phelps Dodge Corporation. We have been pioneers in the local industry and have been the first to introduce the majority of new processes, products and technology related to wire and cable used today. We manufacture a complete line of copper and aluminum wire and cable products for the transmission, distribution and industrial application of electrical energy, as well as for a wide range of telecommunication applications.

We manufacture world-class quality wire and cable, not only for the local market but also for international markets, complying with strict international standards. We are proud of our customer service and long-term business relationships.

Milestones

• 1968 Established Phelps Dodge Thailand Limited Started production in Samrong plant
• 1992 Started production in the Bangplee Plant.
• 1993 Began operating the state-of-the-art VCV Line, to produce Extra High Voltage Power Cable for up to 230 kV
• 1995 Obtained the ISO 9001 from British Approvals Service for Cables (BASEC), the first in Thailand
• 1997 Obtained an additional ISO 9001 certificate from the Thai Industrial Standards Institute
• 1999 Achieved the ISO 14001 from British Approvals Service for Cables (BASEC)

Bangplee Plant

Phelps Dodge's facility at Bangplee, Samutprakarn, is one of the most modern wire and cable plants in Southeast Asia with world class manufacturing capabilities. Built in response to the increase in demand for wire and cable products, the plant incorporates the latest technology and highest quality control standards throughout the production process. At present, the complex features a vertical continuous vulcanization (VCV) tower, which is the first vertical cross-link high voltage insulating unit in southeast Asia and one of the few of its kind in the world. The facility can also produce low voltage power cables, internal and external telecommunications cables, and local area network cable. This plant has been carefully designed to ensure a dust-free environment for the production of high quality Medium Voltage, High Voltage and Extra High Voltage XLPE cables.

Rayong Plant

Phelps Dodge's facility at Rayong specializes in automated, high-volume building wire production at a world-class level in a single, state-of-art facility.

HONG KONG

Keystone Electric Wire & Cable Co. Ltd. (Keystone) was established in Hong Kong in 1969, under its previous name Keystone Industrial Company Limited.  Keystone manufactures a complete line of copper and aluminum wire and cable products for transmission, distribution and industrial application of electrical energy up to 35 KV rating, as well as for LAN cable for telecommunication applications. In order to fulfill the market needs, Keystone entered a joint venture between the local shareholders and Phelps Dodge Corporation (PDC) of America in 1991in further improving its quality standard and expand its product lines. Keystone has two production facilities, one located in Fanling, Hong Kong and the other located, just across the Hong Kong-China border, Dongguan City, PRC.

Dongguan Keystone has quality product license with ISO9001 certification from BASEC, LPCB, UL, CCC.

• 1969.08 Founded Keystone industrial Co., Ltd by Mr. Ching-Sun Yu at 19 Ta Yip Street, Kowloon
• 1979.03 Obtained license from UL and CSA to produce appliance wire, radio-circuit wire, flexible card and power supply card set
• 1980.04 Established Fanling PVC factory to product PVC compound and telecommunication cable. Total floor area 16,000sq.ft.
• 1981.11 Obtained Hong Kong Q-Mark License for BS6004 power cable.
• 1984.04 Established Keystone Electric Wire & Cable Co., Ltd.
• 1990.10 Sign the letter of intent and agreement to purchase the adjacent land of Fanling Cable Factory Site to make the total land area to be approximately 120,000sq.ft.
• 1991.10 Signed Joint Venture and Technical Assistance Agreement with Phelps Dodge Corporation, USA
• 1993.12 Fanling Plant awarded ISO 9002 Quality Management System by British Approvals Service for Cables(BASEC)

• 2005.11 The medium voltage cables were produced in Dongguan Plant and performance validated by KEMA, Netherlands in late 2005

Hong Kong Head Office and Plant

Keystone's Hong Kong plant is located in Fanling, New Territories with land areas over 150,000 sq foot.  The facility produces copper conductor low voltage power cable for distribution network, control cables as well as pilot cables for external data transmission application.

Dongguan Plant

Keystone's Dongguan plant is located in Shatin Township of Dongguan City in Guangdong, PRC.  Distance is about 120 Km from Hong Kong border with land areas over 350,000 sq foot.  The plant has been carefully designed with the help of Phelps Dodge Technical Team and equipped with world class manufacturing capabilities for cable production up to 35 KV rating.  This facility produces a complete line of copper and aluminum wire and cable products for transmission, distribution and industrial application of electrical energy, as well as for LAN cable for telecommunication applications

YANTAI CHINA

Phelps Dodge Yantai Cable Co., Ltd. was established in December 1995, which is a joint venture company invested by Shandong Luneng Development Group Co., Ltd., Yantai Dongyuan Electric Power Group Co., Ltd., No. 1 Engineering Company of Shandong Electric Power Construction, No. 3 Engineering Company of Shandong Electric Power Construction, China Power Complete Equipment Co., Ltd., Hong Kong Keystone Wire & Cable Co., Ltd., and Phelps Dodge Corporation in United States.

The company manufactures 1-110kV XLPE power cable, 1-35kV plastic insulated aerial cable, PVC insulated low voltage power cable, 6-10kV fire-retardant power cable for coal mines, control cable, computer (instrumentation) cable, building wire, bare wire, and etc., which have been delivered to more than 20 provinces, municipalities directly under the Central Government, autonomous regions in China, and other countries such as Korea, Singapore, Philippines, India, Nigeria, U.A.E., Vietnam and etc., and have been used in power construction, urban and rural power grid construction, building industry, oil fields, military enterprises, and industrial and mining enterprises.

Besides the Chinese Standards, the company can also manufacture cables according the international standards such as IEC, BS, ANSI, AEIC, and etc., and is capable to design and produce various cables according to the customer’s requirements.

SUZHOU CHINA

Phelps Dodge Suzhou Magnet Wire Co., Ltd. was established in 2003 and formally initiated production in 2004.  It is 100% Phelps Dodge owned and managed. It produces high quality round copper magnet wire in a range from 12 AWG to 32 AWG that include high-temp, high pulse endurance products such as Armored Poly-Thermaleze, QuantumShield and ToughWire, manufactured with exclusive formulations.
